Diandra Paramitha Sastrowardoyo to marry car racer Indraguna Sutowo

Indonesian award-winning actress Diandra Paramitha Sastrowardoyo, better known as Dian Sastro, is now engaged to businessman and car racer Indraguna Sutowo. The couple planned to tie the knot in May this year in a traditional wedding ceremony.

“God willing, the wedding ceremony will be conducted according to the Javanese Yogyakarta custom,” Dian said, as quoted by detik.com, after an engagement ceremony in her house in South Jakarta on Sunday.

Before getting engaged, Dian, who was awarded best actress at the 2004 Indonesian Film Festival for her performance in Ada Apa Dengan Cinta (What’s Up with Cinta), also visited the grave of her late father to ask for his blessing.

Starting off her career as a cover girl for a teen magazine, Dian, who was born in Jakarta on March 16, 1982, acted alongside young actor Nicholas Saputra in a film that propelled her to stardom. Some critics have praised the film as marking the awakening of the Indonesian film industry.

Before Ada Apa Dengan Cinta, Dian, who is also an assistant lecturer on philosophy at the University of Indonesia, acted with Christine Hakim in Pasir Berbisik (Whispering Sands), receiving a best actress award at both the Singapore International Film Festival and Asia Film Festival in Deauville, France, in 2002.
